Restoration Activities
These restoration sites are part of PSEG’s Estuary Enhancement Program (EEP) — a long-term effort to restore and strengthen tidal wetlands along the Delaware Estuary.
Working with scientists, environmental organizations, regulators and local communities, the program focuses on restoring marsh habitat, improving aquatic ecosystems and supporting the long-term health of the estuary.
Through restoration projects like this one, the EEP helps expand habitat for fish and wildlife, encourage the return of native marsh vegetation and reconnect wetlands with natural tidal processes.

Alloway Creek Marsh Restoration
In 1996, the Estuary Enhancement Program began restoration efforts at the Alloway Creek Watershed Phragmites-dominated Wetland Restoration Site in Elsinboro and Lower Alloways Creek Townships, Salem County, New Jersey.
Bayside Tract Preservation
The Bayside Tract Preservation Site spans more than 4,000 acres along the Delaware Estuary in Greenwich Township, Cumberland County, New Jersey. The site includes expansive salt marshes, forests and active farmland that contribute to the ecological health and cultural heritage of the region.
Cedar Swamp Marsh Restoration
Cedar Swamp is a 1,870-acre wetland site located in New Castle County, Delaware, including 1,863 acres designated for restoration. The site is owned by DNREC and Delaware Wildlands.
Cohansey River Marsh Restoration
The Cohansey River Watershed Phragmites-dominated Wetland Restoration Site spans 1,055 acres in Fairfield and Hopewell Townships, Cumberland County, New Jersey.
Commercial Township Marsh Restoration
Situated along the southern New Jersey shoreline of the Delaware Estuary, the Commercial Township Salt Hay Farm Wetland Restoration Site covers approximately 4,171 acres in Cumberland County and is the largest wetland restoration site within the Estuary Enhancement Program.
Dennis Township Marsh Restoration
The Dennis Township Salt Hay Farm Wetland Restoration Site covers 578 acres of wetlands and adjacent uplands in Cape May County, New Jersey. Restoration efforts focused on 369 acres of wetland habitat, including 15 acres of upland buffer.
Fish Ladder Program
The Fish Ladder Program helps restore historic fish migration routes throughout the Delaware Estuary by allowing migratory fish to move past barriers and reach upstream spawning habitat.
Maurice River Township Marsh Restoration
Located in Cumberland County, New Jersey, the Maurice River Township Salt Hay Farm Wetland Restoration Site is a 1,396-acre site that includes a wetland restoration area of 1,135 acres.
The Rocks Marsh Restoration
The Rocks is a 736-acre wetland restoration site located in New Castle County, Delaware. The site is part of a continuous tidal marsh community known as the Appoquinimink River–Blackbird Creek System, which extends for several miles to the north and south. The site is owned by DNREC.
