Senior Vice President – Finance, Planning and Strategy
Scott Jennings
Scott Jennings is senior vice president of finance, planning and strategy at Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. (PSEG), a position he assumed in 2019. He is a member PSEG’s Senior Executive Team.
With 27 years of progressive experience within PSEG, Mr. Jennings is responsible for guiding the company's short- and long-term business plans and supporting its overarching growth strategy. Mr. Jennings oversees the financial planning and analysis functions across all of PSEG's businesses: PSE&G, Power, Services, and PSEG Long Island. In this capacity, he has spearheaded critical financial aspects for PSE&G’s investment program filings, served as the lead financial witness in the most recent electric and gas distribution base rate case, led financial aspects of the Transmission formula rate amendment, and oversees the rate function.
Mr. Jennings joined PSEG’s corporate accounting group in 1998, after five years as an auditor in Deloitte’s financial services and public utilities practice. He advanced through various financial positions, culminating in his role as Assistant Controller. During this period, he played a key role in addressing accounting matters related to deregulation, separation, and financing of power generation and support functions from PSE&G.
His expertise further expanded as Vice President, Finance for PSEG Energy Holdings LLC. This portfolio included electric generation and distribution companies across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S., along with investments in leveraged leases. He subsequently held positions including, Vice President, M&A and Development and President, PSEG Global and Resources. In these roles, he was instrumental in the sale of over 15 investments, generating proceeds exceeding $3 billion. He also restructured several leveraged lease transactions, participated in creditors' committees during lessee bankruptcies, and served on the boards of directors for several project companies. He also led the development, diligence and negotiation of our arrangement to operate the Long Island utility system on behalf of LIPA. After the wind-down of the Energy Holdings portfolio, Mr. Jennings became Vice President, Strategy, where he was responsible for exploring strategic growth opportunities and evaluating renewable energy investments.
Mr. Jennings has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Accounting from Pace University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has participated in various leadership courses, including the High Potential Leadership Program at Harvard University and Lead NJ. He served on accounting, financial and strategic committees of the Edison Electric Institute, American Gas Association and Electric Power Research Institute, and represented PSEG in its collaboration with Princeton University’s Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. Mr. Jennings also has testified before the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, legislative committees and presented in many other forums. He serves as the Chair of the Board of St. Vincent’s Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school in Newark, and has also served as a leader for several nonprofit and local religious, educational, and youth sports organizations.
